Chapo gets his (later) date in court
EL CHAPO’S courtroom showdown will be coming later than planned, a judge said Wednesday. Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman had been set for an April trial in which prosecutors say they’ll need three or four months to prove Guzman’s crimes as the Sinaloa Cartel leader.
But Guzman’s lawyer, Eduardo Balarezo, has asked for more time to get ready for the epic trial.
Prosecutors didn’t fight the adjournment bid. The judge told both sides to plan on a September trial.
