Call it Donald’s Law

Driven to rage by a book that portrays him as impulsive and ignorant, Donald Trump Wednesday impulsively floated a proposal rooted in ignorance: that U.S. libel laws are a “sham and a disgrace and do not represent American values and American fairness.” He wants to change those laws, even as they apply to the most public of public figures. Presumably, in the future Trump envisions, no man will ever again be able to get away with spreading the malicious lie that a President was not born in this country, and is therefore an illegitimate occupant of the office.
