Sessions could be first to go
RAMON Sessions has been demoted from starting point guard to bench warmer to the leading candidate to be gone with the Knicks’ next roster move. Still, Sessions, a 31-year-old journeyman with 10 different NBA stops on his resume, is sticking to professionalism.
“I’ve been around a little bit. I’ve been traded. I’ve been talked about being traded. So it’s one of those things where you do your work, you can’t control that kind of stuff,” Sessions said before Wednesday’s doubleovertime loss to Chicago.
As the Daily News reported, the Knicks are keen on calling up point guard Trey Burke from their G-League team in Westchester. However, they still need to create a roster spot to facilitate such a move. That can happen via trade, as the Knicks prefer, or by waiving Sessions and his guaranteed contract (one-year, $2.33 million).
Sessions said neither team president Steve Mills nor GM Scott Perry has spoken to him about his future.
“I see those guys every day,” he said “Nothing came to me inhouse.”
HARD TIME
The total reached 20 for the number of consecutive games Tim Hardaway Jr. has been sidelined, but the $71 million shooting guard continues to move closer to a return.
“It should be sometime in the near future that we get Tim back,” Jeff Hornacek said before the game. “He said before shoot-around he feels good.
“Tim’s itching to go; that’s his nature, his mentality. But we do have to listen to doctors, we’ve got to be careful with it. … We’ll build him up. That’s how we’ll go when he’s ready.”
Hardaway hasn’t played since suffering a stress injury in his leg on Nov. 29 against Miami. Hornacek indicated he remains unsure whether Friday’s game in Minnesota is a possibility, but he added that Hardaway had few limitations in practice and a team scrimmage on Tuesday and came out of it feeling “OK.”
SWARMING BEAS
Michael Beasley was active and productive after missing one game with a sprained ankle. He failed to convince Hornacek and the medical staff to let him play Sunday in Dallas, but he scored 26 points off the bench in 39 minutes against the Bulls.
“Yeah, I was going to play with a boot. Coach can’t keep me off the floor,” Beasley joked before the game, before adding afterward: “It was good. A little sore…but it didn’t bother me.” — with Stefan Bondy HOWARD SIMMONS/DAILY NEWS
