Stabbed hubby over busted lip
A BROOKLYN woman told cops her husband busted her lip, so she plunged a knife into his neck — mortally wounding her spouse within a couple of feet of two children.
Rochelle WatsonStanley, 29, was hit with murder and weapons charges after the violent clash with Mark Dixon at their apartment on Howard Ave. in Brownsville on Friday night.
Neighbors heard the couple arguing about 8 p.m. Police said there was a struggle before WatsonStanley (inset) grabbed the knife. The woman then scooped up her 5-year-old stepdaughter and 5-month-old daughter. She ran to her aunt’s house nearby, where she called 911.
Medics took Dixon to Kings County Hospital, where he died.
“It’s just sad,” said one neighbor, who wished not to be named. “I thought he was going to make it. (Medics were) pumping him for a good 30 minutes.”
The resident said Dixon and Watson-Stanley’s baby girl was expected to be baptized Saturday. “He was out yesterday inviting people. It’s a shock to all of us.” Watson-Stanley was held without bail after her arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court Saturday.
Her lawyer said the killing was in self-defense, that his client was on the phone in the kitchen when Dixon came in with a knife in his hand.
The attorney claims Watson-Stanley was routinely abused by Dixon, who picked fights with her over odd things.
Dixon, who also went by the name Tony, moved into a new apartment on the block with WatsonStanley before their child was born.
Watson-Stanley was working at a day care as she went to graduate school.
