‘WORM’ CAN’T WIGGLE OUT OF DUI BUST

- BY ANDY CLAYTON

AS The Worm turns has added a new chapter.

Dennis Rodman, the eccentric former NBA star, was arrested for DUI in Newport Beach, Calif.

The two-time All-Star and fivetime NBA champ flunked a field sobriety test on Saturday night after he was pulled over for a traffic violation, according to the gossip website TMZ.

The Hall of Famer was reportedly cooperative and submitted to a breathalyzer test. TMZ reports Rodman — nicknamed The Worm — blew over the .08 legal limit. After he sobered up at the police station for seven hours, TMZ says the cops let him go.

“Dennis is taking this seriously, and will take positive steps to address his personal issues,” Rodman’s attorney, AP Paul S. Meyer, said in a statement to the Daily News. “He appreciates the professionalism of the Newport Beach Police Department.”

The rebounding and defensive force for the Pistons, Spurs, Bulls and Lakers during a 14-year pro hoops career, Rodman has been an author, actor, pro wrestler and amateur diplomat since retiring from the NBA in 2000. He was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.

Rodman, 56, has made international headlines for his unusual friendship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

“I basically hang out with him all the time, we laugh, we sing karaoke, we do a lot of cool things together,” Rodman claimed in a 2017 appearance on ITV’s “Good Morning Britain.” “We ride horses, we hang out, we go skiing.”

Rodman even wanted to help calm the tensions between North Korea and the U.S. in December by offering to host a basketball game between North Korea and Guam. Kim has threatened to target Guam — an American territory — as he expands North Korea’s nuclear capabilities. President Trump has frequently referred to Kim as “Little Rocket Man.”

In an interview in Beijing last month, Rodman said both leaders just “love control” and downplayed the threat of nuclear war between the two countries.

“Ain’t nobody got no finger on the button,” Rodman said, per Newsweek.

Rodman, who had his No. 10 retired by the Pistons, already has a 1999 DUI bust on his rap sheet. He was also arrested in 2008 on suspicion of domestic violence and had to perform community service in 2012 for failing to pay child support.
