Charter champion stumbles
A ONCE-powerful charter school lobbying group is scaling back operations and will soon close following the firing of its CEO for inappropriate behavior and a drop in revenue.
Manhattan-based Families for Excellent Schools, which fired its former CEO Jeremiah Kittredge on Jan. 31, is planning layoffs and may cease some or all of its activities in the near future.
Bryan Lawrence, board chairman of Families for Excellent Schools, confirmed A CITY Housing Authority caretaker groped a man she was working with in Brooklyn and crudely propositioned him, police said Monday.
NYCHA employee Deja Mason, 27, was at work with a 24-year-old man in the city’s Fiorentino Plaza development on Pitkin Ave. in East New York on Jan. 25 when she grabbed the news that had been circulating in education circles with an email sent Monday afternoon.
“This is a sad day for everyone at Families for Excellent Schools,” said Lawrence in the statement.
Kittredge, 31, was removed from his job following an investigation of a complaint of inappropriate behavior toward a nonemployee.
Kittredge didn’t respond to a request for comment. his genitals, cops said.
“I’m almost off probation. When are you gonna eat it?” she asked him, according to police sources.
Cops arrested Mason Monday on charges of forcible touching and harassment.
She was awaiting arraignment early Tuesday in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
