REBUILD?
WINNIPEG — Whether it’s a coincidence, infusion of youth or an attitude adjustment in the wake of the front office’s decree to rebuild, the Rangers have some spring in their step.
There are new faces now because they’ve been decimated by injuries and there could be more over the next couple of weeks when the trade deadline passes, but the men on and behind the bench are simply looking at the standings and seeing an opportunity.
The Rangers have won twice now since Thursday’s formal announcement to sell, defeating a Western Conference contender Sunday in the Jets, 3-1.
“This win is so important in so many ways,” Henrik Lundqvist said. “To be able to go on the road and beat a really good team, the way we do it, we stick with it and in the end we come up with a couple big plays. That’s how you’re gonna win a lot of games.”
