KATE’S ROYALLY FASHIONABLE:

- BY JOE DZIEMIANOWICZ

ROYAL INTRIGUE cloaks the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, airing Sunday at 8 p.m. on BBC America.

The burning question: What will Kate Middleton, who’s set to attend with husband Prince William, wear to the U.K.’s version of the Oscars?

Many female nominees, presenters and guests are expected to dress in black to support the Time’s Up anti-harassment movement — just like they did at the Golden Globes last month.

But because the Duchess of Cambridge is part of the royal family, she is urged to not make political messages — even ones threaded into her clothing.

If Kate wears black, she’s taking a stance. If she doesn’t, she could get a dressing down for silently suggesting that she’s OK with misconduct against women.

It’s a dilemma — amplified by Prince William’s position as president of BAFTA.

The Duchess has continually turned heads and made fashion statements — whether in glamour gowns or maternity frocks.

At last year’s BAFTAs, she wore an Alexander McQueen gown that was black but covered in a floral pattern. It could have been seen as a happy medium for Sunday night.

So stay tuned — and not just to see what’s worn, but who wins. That includes talented women in the race for best actress: Annette Bening, “Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool,” Frances McDormand, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” Margot Robbie, “I, Tonya,” Sally Hawkins, “The Shape of Water” and Saoirse Ronan, “Lady Bird.”

There’s ample awards drama — and there will more when the Oscars are presented on March 4.
