Perv tutor’s creepy gift
A LONG Island home-school tutor who thought he was going to sexually abuse a 13-year-old girl on Valentine’s Day but got arrested in a sting operation instead showed up for the rendezvous in lower Manhattan with a teddy bear, according to police.
Suspect Jeffrey Weber was wearing an ill-fitting purple T-shirt (photo) emblazoned with the words “My girlfriend is the coolest, sweetest, most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. She is my best friend and my life,” police and federal prosecutors said.
Investigators now believe Weber may have met with child victims in the past. On Friday, cops released a photo of him in hopes other victims will come forward.
Weber, 59, allegedly responded to a Craigslist ad on Jan. 30 about meeting a non-existent 13-year-old girl named Rebecca for sex. The ad, titled, “Looking for an Older Guy” stated “I’m a younger girl looking for an older guy. Don’t judge, that’s kind of my thing . ... Hit me up if interested.”
The ad was part of a sting run by federal investigators and the NYPD Computer Crimes Squad/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Over the next two weeks, Weber sent a number of sexually explicit emails where he “discussed various sexual acts he wished to perform on the girl,” prosecutors at the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
He was ordered held without bail during his arraignment in Manhattan Federal Court.
