They aren’t wearing the hats, but the Mets are trying to Make Shark Fishing Great Again.

New skipper Mickey Callaway invited more than a dozen Mets players and staffers shark fishing Friday night. One nonteam member who participated was Donald Trump Jr.

President Trump’s son was spotted on the Florida shores hanging out with Callaway and Mets players, according to third-base prospect Phillip Evans’ Instagram story.

Evans shared a photo of Trump Jr. posing next to a caught shark alongside Harvey. He later deleted the photo. Callaway and a second shark were also in the picture.

A Mets representative told the Daily News that Trump Jr. was not there as a guest of the team and that the run-in was “coincidental.”

Matt Harvey and other Mets frequently tee off at Trump National at Ferry Point in the Bronx.

Trump Jr., along with his brother Eric Trump, hunt frequently. Multiple photos of the pair hunting in Zimbabwe from 2011 went viral during their father’s presidential campaign. Trump Jr. has always been outspoken in his support of killing wild animals, telling Forbes in 2012, “anyone who thinks hunters are just ‘bloodthirsty morons’ hasn’t looked into hunting.”

“I think what made it sort of a bigger story and kind of national and even global news was that I didn’t do what a lot of other people do, which is immediately start apologizing for what I am and that I’m a hunter and all this,” Donald Jr. told Deer & Hunter magazine in a separate interview about the initial controversy surrounding the photos from the Zimbabwe trip. “I kinda said, ‘No, I am what I am.’”

Their father does not agree with them on this topic. “My sons love hunting. They’re hunters and they’ve become good at it,” President Trump told TMZ in 2012. “I am not a believer in hunting and I’m surprised they like it.”

While Trump Jr. was kicking back and catching sharks Friday, the President and Melania Trump were in the same state at a Broward County hospi- tal, visiting victims of the Marjory Stoneman Doug- las High School shooting that left 17 people dead.
