Long blasts Fox host after she rips LeBron

- BY JOHN HEALY

Shut up and dribble. That was the message from Fox News host Laura Ingraham to LeBron James after the Cavs star criticized President Donald Trump in an UNINTERRUPTED video with Kevin Durant released on Thursday.

Ingraham blasted James, who said in the video that Trump “is someone that doesn’t understand the people. And really don’t give a f--k about the people.”

“Must they run their mouths like that?” Ingraham said during her show, “The Ingraham Angle.” “Unfortunately a lot of kids, and some adults, take these ignorant comments seriously. Look, there might be a cautionary lesson in LeBron for kids. This is what happens when you attempt to leave high school a year early to join the NBA. It’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball.”

Ingraham’s comments quickly drew backlash, and despite the fact James did indeed graduate high school, Ingraham and Fox News were also exposed as hypocritical for suggesting an athlete has no voice in the political realm.

Eagles defensive end Chris Long, who donated his entire 2017 salary to charity and has been a vocal supporter of players who protest during the national anthem, posted multiple screenshots on Twitter of celebrities and sports figures who have gone on Fox News to give their political opinions.

Long included screenshots of actors Jon Voight, Chuck Norris, Clint Eastwood, musicians Kid Rock and Ted Nugent, and legendary basketball coach Bobby Knight.

“And if you reply ‘stick to sports,’ you should probably tune of out Fox News because they’ve got karate guys talking climate change on there. (Which I’m cool with… it’s his right),” Long tweeted. “Unless it’s just about you needing to feel like you’ve got control of athletes like Lebron.”

Others soon began tweeting at Long even more celebrities and athletes, such as former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling appearing on Fox News.

“So here’s the thing,” Long wrote above the tweet of Schilling. “I can’t stand Curt’s views. But it’s his right to speak them. But the same people saying ‘stick to sports’ and nodding their head when Laura spews her bulls--t are tuning in to listen to Curt. ‘JUST SHUT UP AND THROW THAT BASEBALL’ — said no Fox News viewer.”

Ingraham’s comments on James also come in the wake of the Parkland, Fla. shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which killed 17.

Sports figures such as Warriors coach Steve Kerr and Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo have called on politicians to enact some sort of change to attempt to prevent these mass shootings, with Kerr even taking a direct shot at Trump’s policies and specifically calling for stricter gun laws.

Yet it seems Ingraham only has a problem when guys like James and Durant speak their minds.
