DON’T BE SHY, LET IT FLY

-

As Rosario spoke to reporters Saturday, Jose Reyes sat behind him and nodded his head. While every MLB team has to have a translator to help Spanish-speaking players communicate with the media, Reyes has encouraged Rosario to learn and practice speaking English.

On the two-day road trip to Lakeland and Tampa, the Mets translator stayed behind in Port St. Lucie and Rosario did his interviews in English.

“I am proud of him,” Reyes said. “It’s only going to help him in his career if he can speak with his teammates and (reporters) directly. I told him ‘don’t be shy and let it fly.’ He did really well and I am glad to see that.”
