Bono’s sorry for bullying at his charity
BONO HAS apologized on behalf of his advocacy charity One Campaign after allegations of bullying and harassment in its Johannesburg offices surfaced.
“We are all deeply sorry. I hate bullying, can’t stand it,” the U2 rocker told The Mail on Sunday.
The “With or Without You” singer founded the One Campaign in 2004 with Bobby Shriver to address poverty and preventable diseases, particularly in Africa.
But the organization’s feelgood mission was tainted last November as employees came forward on social media with claims of abuse and bullying.
Examples included instances of name-calling and forced labor, including one manager who put her junior staffers to work on domestic tasks at her house.
Meanwhile, Bono (photo) added that he was “reeling and furious” when he first learned of the claims, and hopes to meet with the victims in person.
