Susps to get $151G in jail-filth suit

- Andrew Keshner

NEARLY 20 New Yorkers who claim they were arrested and shoved into stomachturning, stench-ridden Brooklyn holding cells will be getting $151,000 in a settlement, the Daily News has learned.

The 19 men and women said they dealt with overcrowded, filthy jail cells – with unusable toilets and surroundings caked in a mix of feces, urine, vomit and rotten milk – while being processed through the temporary Brooklyn Central Booking facility from 2011 to 2013.

The location was in basement of the Brooklyn Detention Complex, at 275 Atlantic Ave. Brooklyn Central Booking is now in the basement of Brooklyn Criminal Court, at the nearby 120 Schermerhorn St.

The plaintiffs, who had been arrested on charges like drunk driving, gun possession and drug sale, were headed for trial later this month until the sides reached an agreement last week, court records show.

The Law Department said the $151,000 settlement will be carved into payouts between $5,000 and $15,000.
