Brady shows his bloody hand

- BY BRETT BODNER

Tom Brady wants people to give him a hand for playing through injury.

Prior to the Patriots facing the Jaguars in this year’s AFC Championship game, Brady suffered a cut on his right throwing hand during practice that the team kept under wraps — er, gloves. In the series finale of the quarterback’s online show “Tom vs. Time,” fans finally got to see what the injury looked like.

The episode showed a huge open cut near Brady’s thumb, which left the quarterback questioning if he’d be able to play in the biggest game of the year.

“When I hurt my thumb, I thought, ‘This is it. This is the way the season ends,’” Brady said in the episode. “I’m looking down at my thumb as it’s split open, and I’m thinking, ‘I really don’t know what happened to my thumb, but I know it doesn’t feel good and I’m having a real hard time believing I’m going to go out and play well against the No. 1 ranked defense in four days.”

Despite his fears, the injury did not hold Brady back as he was able to lead the Patriots to 24-20 win over the Jagaurs in the AFC title game, sending the team to the Super Bowl. Brady threw for 290 yards with two touchdowns in the game.

The Patriots would go on to lose Super Bowl LII to the Eagles, 4133, two weeks later. However, the loss wasn’t on Brady’s hands. a third-round pick.

The moves helped place the Bills in a position to use one of their first-round picks to draft a quarterback. The Bills have the assets to move up even higher in draft by having two picks in each of the first three rounds.
