REMEMBER THE LITTLE PEOPLE

-

“Stranger Things” star Gaten Matarazzo was just another kid in the crowd at a Wednesday performance of “The Play That Goes Wrong” at the Lyceum Theatre. The 15-year-old SAG Award-winner (above) attended the hit Broadway comedy on a high school field trip with 30 of his classmates from Little Egg Harbor, N.J., “without any entourage or special star treatment,” according to a theater insider.

“The drama students particularly appreciated the comedy about an amateur theater troupe putting on a show where everything goes wrong and stopped the show twice with their laughter, applause and callouts from the balcony,” we’re told.

Matarazzo, who arrived by bus, sat with his drama class, who call themselves the Pinelands Thespians.

After the performance, the students went backstage to meet the show’s cast and got a backstage tour. We’re told Matazarro congratulated the actors who were making their Broadway debuts, but he was being modest — Matarazzo made his Broadway debut at the age of 8 in the musical “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.”
