TRUMP EX TAKES CENTER STAGE

“The President tried to intervene with Vanessa,” according to a source with ties to the Trump family. “He’s personally upset . . . Donald Trump failed as (a) marriage counselor.”
According to our insider, the President suggested the couple stick it out a little longer — even though he knew of their issues prior to the couple’s last public outing, a 40th birthday party for Junior on New Year’s Eve at Mar-a-Lago.
The President tried to mend fences between the feuding couple at some point between that bash and the Thursday announcement of their impending split, our source says.
The divorce is just more bad news for a White House now left to ponder if the estranged Vanessa might chat with special counsel about her futureex’s 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russian operatives.
“The Mueller thing didn’t help,” said the insider. “They don’t need people (gossiping) about what she knows or doesn’t know about Russia.”
The Trump whisperer adds that mutual friends are buzzing about the fortuitous timing of the split for Vanessa and any potential divorce settlement.
“Would you want a spurned wife who feels like she’s been cheated talking about you to investigators?” asked our insider.
We’re told that it was problematic for Vanessa that Junior wasn’t around to help with the five kids. The marital stress came to a head in February when an envelope containing white powder (along with a menacing note) arrived at the Upper East Side home of Vanessa’s mom.
After opening the envelope, Vanessa was hospitalized with nausea — although the powder turned out to be harmless.
While Vanessa struggled with her time apart from Junior, we’re told that it wasn’t as problematic for her husband. Young Donnie grew up in a household where his father was frequently away or at work.
“The kids were all brought up by we’re told. “The President thinks this is normal.”
