SWARZAK BACK
Anthony Swarzak pitched a perfect inning Saturday, his first action since leaving a game Feb. 27 with a strained calf.
“It felt great, felt great to compete, felt good to be in a Mets uniform out there facing some hitters in front of some fans,” Swarzak said.
The Mets signed Swarzak to a two-year, $14 million deal this winter to shore up their bullpen. In three appearances, Swarzak has allowed one home run and an unearned run over 1.2 innings pitched.
He said that because he was able to continue strengthening his arm despite the injury, he will be ready for Opening Day.
“I find ways to get my work in. That doesn’t necessarily mean you have to pitch every day in the games. I am ready, I feel great,” Swarzak said.
