Nixon $urges in small gifts

ALBANY — Actress Cynthia Nixon on Thursday crowed that she raised more small donations in her first 24 hours as a candidate than Gov. Cuomo in his seven years in office combined.

Nixon’s campaign said she received 2,214 contributions of less than $200 in the day after she launched her Democratic primary challenge against Cuomo on Monday.

By comparison, the campaign said, Cuomo, who has more than $30 million in his campaign coffers, has reported just 1,369 donations of less than $200 since the start of 2011.

Nixon campaign manager Nicole Aro accused Cuomo of racking up donations from “wealthy corporate interests, lobbyists and billionaires.”
