Aaron Boone joked that he wasn’t worried about special adviser Alex Rodriguez spilling any Yankee secrets on the ESPN broadcast. “I think he’ll be objective,” Boone said. “I actually think it’s fairly easy to separate and not give away too many secrets but also explain what you’re seeing and actually have a little more context and knowledge because you’re so close to the team.”

Sonny Gray will start Monday’s exhibition game in Atlanta.

Aaron Hicks is expected to be the leadoff man when Brett Gardner sits against a lefty. Boone said Gardner could hit ninth sometimes against a tough southpaw if the manager wants to keep him in the lineup.

The Yankees’ setup man situation will be very fluid. They could deploy Dellin Betances, Tommy Kahnle, David Robertson and Chad Green anytime from the fifth-eighth innings.
