G.I. kills a comrade in N. Carolina

-

AN ARMY Special Operations soldier was fatally shot during an altercation with another elite soldier at a home outside Fort Bragg.

Authorities from the Cumberland County, N.C., sheriff’s office responded to the residence shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to investigate reports of a shooting, ABC News reported.

Deputies discovered the victim, Sgt. 1st Class Mark Leshikar, dead at the scene. A senior defense official said the 33-year-old was a member of the 19th Special Forces Group, a National Guard Green Beret unit.

Leshikar had reportedly just returned from a vacation in Florida with another soldier and their families.

Upon his arrival, he was kicked out of the Fayetteville home after getting into some sort of dispute there.

A child at the home let Leshikar back inside, and he allegedly rushed at the other soldier with a screwdriver before he was shot.

A spokesperson for the Army Special Operations Command would not confirm the identity of the shooter, telling ABC that it is an active duty soldier with the Special Missions Unit.

No charges have been filed in the case.
