Jacoby Ellsbury will start the season on the disabled list, as expected, Cashman confirmed.

Ellsbury will remain in Tampa as he works his way back. The 34-year-old veteran missed most of the spring due to an oblique injury, and will need 40-50 rehab at-bats as he plays his way into form. Ellsbury, who has three years and $68 million left on his deal, has been demoted to a reserve outfield and pinch-runner once he returns. will remain in Tampa. Cashman said he is doing baseball activity but has yet to be cleared for games. Frazier is expected to start the season at Triple-A Scranton when he is ready . ... The Yankees received first baseman Mike Ford as a Rule 5 Draft return from Seattle and assigned him to Triple-A Scranton . ... Jordan Montgomery, who starts the April 2 home-opener, will pitch in a minor-league game on Tuesday.
