Child-vic groups go to bat for aid
ALBANY — Advocates for a bill to make it easier for child sex abuse victims to seek justice as adults hope to enlist Little Leagues and parent teacher organizations in their cause.
New Yorkers Against Hidden Predators said Tuesday they are sending letters to youth service groups in the districts of five senior state Senate Republicans and asking them pressure their lawmakers to support the Child Victims Act.
“New York has some of the largest numbers of hidden predators in the United States and we’re just going into their districts and telling the truth,” said survivor Kathryn Robb.
Gov. Cuomo and the Assembly Democrats have pushed for a version of the act in the state budget, but Senate Republicans are blocking the measure.
