Salvy slips on steps & tears MCL

Perez slipped carrying his luggage Tuesday night and tore his MCL, the Royals announced on Wednesday.

It is a Grade 2 MCL tear and he is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Perez spoke with reporters after the team announced the injury and said he missed a step while carrying the luggage.

“I feel sad. I’ve put a lot of work into this year and to be behind home plate tomorrow and I’m not going to be there,” he said. “Now I just need to get well and get ready.”
