AN UNHINGED woman shoved a man onto the subway tracks at Union Square early Friday — but fortunately for victim Stephen Ware, the potentially tragic incident was accompanied by a stroke of good luck.

Cops patrolling on the platform saw what happened and quickly helped Ware, a 27-year-old construction worker on his way home from work, escape danger before a train roared into the station.

Majorie Chambers, 57, pushed Ware onto the Brooklyn-bound Q train tracks as he walked past her about 12:15 a.m.

Ware was walking near the lip of the platform, on the yellow safety strip, when she pushed him, police said.

“Someone said ‘f--- you’ and just pushed me onto the tracks,” Ware said. “I landed on my feet and fell over. It was such a flash. I came close to the third rail.”

Cops immediately reached down and pulled Ware back onto the platform. He was not hurt.

Ware didn’t know Chambers and said he wasn’t looking at her directly while he walked by — but she was nonetheless offended.

Chambers was charged with reckless endangerment. Her arraignment was pending.

She told cops that Ware had bothered her moments before the attack, a police source said.

“I guess it’s just the charm of this city,” Ware said about the experience.
