Carter praying it’ll all work out

PRESIDENT TRUMP went lunar as he escalated his fiery feud with California on Saturday, blasting Gov. Jerry Brown for pardoning five ex-convicts facing deportation.

Trump ripped into Brown, derisively referring to him as “Moonbeam,” a nickname given to the Democrat in the 1970s when he proposed a space academy for California.

Brown pardoned 56 convicted felons on Friday, two of whom were members of families that fled the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia four decades ago.

Trump tweeted out a list of the immigrants’ crimes.

“Governor Jerry ‘Moonbeam’ Brown pardoned 5 criminal illegal aliens whose crimes include (1) Kidnapping and Robbery (2) Badly beating wife and threatening a crime with intent to terrorize (3) Dealing drugs,” he wrote. “Is this really what the great people of California want?”

A spokesman for Brown’s office told CNN that the comments were “rather curious given President Trump’s proclamation yesterday declaring April ‘Second Chance Month’ to ‘celebrate those who have exited the prison system and successfully reentered society.’ ”

Trump sent his acerbic tweets after he was ferried to one of his namesake Florida golf properties.

He is spending the weekend at Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach estate.

The President has spent 105 days at one of his golf properties in the 436 days since he took over the White House. Trump tagged Fox News, often the inspiration behind his online rants, in the tweet.

Brown Trump administration has the accused of “basically going to war” with California over its immigration policy. Last year, he signed sanctuary legislation limiting state and local cooperation with federal enforcement of immigration laws. The Department of Justice responded with a lawsuit seeking to invalidate three state laws protecting residents living in the country without documentation. Attorney General Jeff Sessions charges that the state laws are designed to intentionally obstruct the enforcement of federal immigration law. Brown, 79, has called the suit a “political stunt” by the administration. The pardons don’t automatically stop deportation proceedings, but eliminate the convictions on which authorities based the deportatio ns.

Trump, meanwhile, renewed his assault on online retail giant Amazon Saturday, tweeting that the company’s agreement with the U.S. Postal Service has cost taxpayers “Billions of Dollars.”

“If the P.O. ‘increased its parcel rates, Amazon’s shipping costs would rise by $2.6 Billion.’ This Post Office scam must stop. Amazon must pay real costs (and taxes) now!”

The Postal Service has lost money for 11 straight years, as pension and health care costs for employees add up. Package delivery for companies such as Amazon has been one of the few positive points of revenue.

Federal regulators have reviewed the Amazon contract with the Postal Service each year and determined it to be profitable.

The President also hammered the company for being owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos, who also owns The Washington Post.

Trump accused Amazon of using the “Fake Washington Post” as a lobbyist. HER RATINGS are much stronger than her rantings.

Fresh off her sitcom reboot debut with 18.2 million viewers and a congratulatory call from the White House, Roseanne Barr tweeted about President Trump taking down child sex trafficking rings.

“President Trump has freed so many children held in bondage to pimps all over this world,” Barr wrote Friday night. Hundreds each month. He has broken up trafficking rings in high places everywhere.

“Notice that. I disagree on some things, but give him benefit of doubt-4 now.”

The tweet appeared to reference a right-wing internet conspiracy theory that Trump adversaries are turning children into sex workers.

Barr retweeted several posts in support of her claim before a social media backlash led her to back off.

“I have worked with victims of trafficking for decades & supported the fight against it,” Barr claimed. “Sorry to have mentioned it here. It’s not the place.”

Barr shared the tweet on the same day that President Trump declared April National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. THOUGHTS AND prayers aren’t working here, either.

Ex-President Jimmy Carter, appearing on “Late Night With Stephen Colbert,” said Friday that he does pray — a lot — for current White House occupant Donald Trump.

“I pray that he’ll be a good President, and that he’ll keep our country at peace, and that he’ll refrain from using nuclear weapons, and that he will promote human rights,” said the 93-year-old Carter.

Carter added that his former pastor used to say God had three answers to prayers: “Yes, no . . . and you’ve got to be kidding.”

The ex-commander-in-chief said it is too soon to say which one applies to his Trump entreaties.

Colbert then played straight man for Carter, asking if he was too nice to be President back in 1976.

“Does America want kind of a jerk as President?” asked Colbert.

“Apparently, from this recent election year,” Carter replied.
