Teen beating vic’s ma to seek $5.5M

RENEE Tenpow’s 13-year-old daughter lives in constant fear since she was beaten up last month on her Brooklyn middle school playground.

With three months left until graduation, her daughter is always looking over her shoulder and sends check-in texts as she walks to her next class in the hallways of Roy H. Mann Middle School.

“I talked to her about a possible safety transfer, but she says it makes no sense because no matter where she goes the girls will find her at the next school to fight her,” said Tenpow, 38.

Now, weeks after a mother was arrested for coaching her daughter during the Mill Basin schoolyard brawl — and jumping into the fray — Tenpow plans to file a $5.5 million dollar notice of claim against the city, her lawyers said.

“I want my child to get her mental health back in order,” said Tenpow, whose daughter is currently in counseling. “She’s afraid all the time now.”

The worried mom said that the school should have done more to protect her daughter.

In the weeks leading up to the Feb. 15 assault, administrators were warned by Tenpow about the parents of her daughter’s attackers, the mom said.

Police arrested Tameekah Douglas-Stanbury, 38, who was heard on video instructing her 13-yearold daughter to attack Tenpow and was recorded pulling the girl’s braids. Tenpow’s daughter suffered bumps and bruises all over her body.

According to the notice of claim — the first step required before a lawsuit is filed — the school’s principal was aware that the atmosphere was tense after a Jan. 25 fight between Tenpow’s daughter, her friend and two antagonizing students.

“We are pleased the Brooklyn district attorney’s office is continuing its criminal investigation regarding this assault as well as the threats captured on social media,” said lawyer Sanford Rubenstein. The city Law Department will review the claim when it was filed.
