Vile act wipes out service

- Service on the No. 2 line was disrupted Monday morning after riders at Borough Hall station in Brooklyn reported two cars were smeared with excrement.

Legal Aid attorney John Schoeffel heard the surprising service change but did not get a look at the appalling scene, which was toward the front of the train.

“In 25 years of riding the subways I’ve never heard an announcement that unusual before,” Schoeffel, 49, said.

The announcement seemed to be in keeping with new MTA Chief Andy Byford’s push for more transparency at the embattled agency.

“He hasn’t had time to fix the terrible service but he has asked them to be more transparent and it’s worked — judging by this awesome message,” Schoeffel said.

Schoeffel was also taken by New Yorkers’ reaction — or lack thereof — to the experience.

“I was most struck by how composed and straightfaced the customers were after hearing such a graphic message,” he said.

“People didn’t react very much. Some were smiling, but most people just patiently waited.”

Several Daily News readers on Facebook and Twitter said they had coped with a similar episode during their commutes as recently as last week.

Other disgusting sights witnessed, and shared, by News readers included a straphanger with gangrene, self-pleasuring subway riders and “three rats having a threesome.”
