Grisly find is fingered as a hoax

- Laura Dimon

MORE THAN a dozen police officers descended upon a public parking garage in Kips Bay on Monday after a cleaner called 911 saying he discovered bloody human fingers in a Ziploc bag — but cops said the body parts turned out to be fake.

The worker at the municipal garage near 23rd St. and the FDR Drive noticed the gory bag in a trash bin just before noon, authorities said. When he peered a bit closer, it looked like there were parts of a hand inside, authorities said. The freaked-out cleaner immediately called 911.

Police and the city medical examiner’s office determined that the fingers were fake and placed there as a prank.
