No jail for lying drug-arrest cop

-

A DECORATED former NYPD detective convicted of perjury got a slap on the wrist Wednesday — with a sentence of three years probation. Ex-Detective Kevin Desormeau was also fined $500 by a Queens judge for the 2014 false arrest of an innocent man on bogus drug charges. Desormeau said he arrested Roosevelt McCoy after he spotted him dealing crack in Jamaica, Queens, but the case collapsed in March 2016 after McCoy’s relative found video of him playing pool at the time he was allegedly selling dope. McCoy spent 52 days in Rikers Island before Desormeau’s lies were revealed. The ex-cop was fired by the NYPD after he was convicted of perjury.
