HE’S THE trash-talking, chestthumping, tattooed icon of UFC, a bad boy with a brogue and a bad reputation. Irish superstar Conor McGregor cultivated his taste for controversy during a meteoric rise to the top of his sport, embracing his anti-hero role both inside and outside the ring. There were reports last November of a Dublin bar brawl involving McGregor and a reputed Irish mobster. Asked about a supposed death threat that followed the fight, McGregor never flinched. “Come and get me,” he told reporters after a Dublin court appearance for a speeding ticket. McGregor, a former w elfare recipient who earned $1 00 million against boxer Floyd Mayweather, was convicted and fined a little over $600. He’s come under fire for spewing racist and homophobic invectives — most recently before his August 2017 mega-hyped, megamillion dollar showdown with Mayweather. “Dance for me, boy!” he twice shouted at Mayweather before their fight last year in Las Vegas.
