DIVORCE DETAILS

-

NEWS OF RUDY GIULIANI and Judith Nathan’s divorce surprised some Palm Beach socialites because it happened and others because it took so long. On Wednesday, Nathan filed for a contested divorce after nearly 15 years of marriage to the former mayor. “This is not a new problem — the Giulianis have been fighting for two years,” according to a source who has spent a considerable amount of time with the couple in Manhattan, the Hamptons and Palm Beach, where they have a place at the Southlake Building on South Lake Trail. “People have been shocked to hear them arguing in front of the building,” we’re told. Our insider says it has also gone noticed that Nathan had been going out on her own in recent months, though that may have been because the former mayor underwent knee surgery in August. The two were out as a couple in March, where they were spotted at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. “People thought they’d kissed and made up,” according to our source. Axios reported that Giuliani got a “most foul look” from Nathan during that outing after making a joke about Hillary Clinton’s weight. Our spy thought Nathan may have been First Lady material herself when Giuliani ran for President in 2008. It also appeared the 73-year-old politico and his 63-year-old partner might be heading to Washington, D.C., when Trump won the presidency in 2016.

“If he had become vice president, or attorney general or secretary of state, their lifestyle would be different,” our insider suspects. “That doesn’t look like it’s going to happen now. Then again, who knows?”

According to our insider, if this divorce gets ugly, the gala crowd will likely side with Giuliani over Nathan. “If people have to choose, they’ll go with Rudy,” we’re told. “Her roots in high society might not be what she thinks. Let’s not forget it was Rudy everyone knew first. Somewhere in the marriage, maybe five years ago, Judi became Judith. It was a big thing socially.”

Though our snitch thinks both threetime divorcees are forces to be reckoned with should push come to shove.

“He’s a fighter — a tough prosecutor,” says our insider. “But what does she know? She’s basically been with him since 9/11. She’s got a book in her.”

Our insider said that gossips in Palm Beach are scrambling to find out why the marriage ended.

“Everyone is waiting for another shoe to drop,” we’re told.

Nathan’s attorney declined to comment. Giuliani’s firm did not return a request for comment.
