Bridge death leap
A MOTORIST took a 135-foot death leap into the East River from the Whitestone Bridge on Tuesday, police said.
The 44-year-old man drove onto the span, stopped his car and jumped over the bridge’s railing just before 7 a.m., witnesses told police.
Harbor units pulled the man from the chilly water and brought him to a wharf off of Malba Drive in Queens, where an ambulance was waiting.
He was rushed to Flushing Hospital, where he died.
