Limping LIRR’s boss out

THE LONG Island Rail Road chief is stepping aside.

Patrick Nowakowski is resigning Friday, after four years on the job he was appointed to in April 2014.

The LIRR had its worst performanc­e in 18 years in 2017, with nearly 21,400 late trains, according to a report from state Controller Tom DiNapoli.

Nowakowski (photo) drafted a plan for the MTA board last month to improve its reliabilit­y.
