Staten I. Dem hopeful has House money
MAX ROSE, a Democrat looking to flip a Staten Island congressional seat in November, will report $570,000 in campaign donations over the last filing period, his campaign told the News.
Rose, 31, is looking to unseat Republican Rep. Daniel Donovan — assuming excon and ex-congressman Michael Grimm doesn’t topple Donovan himself in a heated June primary. The money was raised between Jan. 1 and March 30, his campaign said.
Rose (photo) also has primary challengers this June, but has scored the endorsement of the borough Democratic Party, among other groups, and has been by far the most prodigious fund-raiser on the Democratic side of the race.
The $570,000 quarter is a significant increase in fund-raising for Rose, who brought in $333,000 in the last cycle.
Over the same end-of-2017 period, Donovan raised $379,410 and Grimm raised $176,140. Their newest filings weren’t available.
