Photo finish for Brooklyn burglar
SMILE FOR the camera!
A not-so-clever crook got up close and personal with a surveillance camera as he broke into a Brooklyn storage facility, cops said Friday.
Police said the burglar broke into the New York Self Storage facility on Metropolitan Ave. near Morgan Ave. in East Williamsburg through a skylight about 6:45 a.m.
But when he decided to cover one of the building’s surveillance cameras he was recorded looking directly into the lens, a smoke dangling from his mouth.
Cops released the video Friday (below) and asked the public’s help identifying the camera-happy crook.
The thief’s trip to the facility wasn’t very inconspicuous, either: He was driving a piece of construction equipment, cops said.
The bungling burglar was recorded driving down a street in a Caterpillar Payloader. After raiding a storage unit, he got away with $1,000 cash and a MacBook , cops said.
