FAMILIA TERRITORY
The Mets entered this season with some uncertainty about Jeurys Familia and the closer role, but the hard-throwing reliever appears to have returned to his All-Star form from 2016.
Familia entered Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers with a league-leading seven saves, just one of five pitchers in MLB history to record seven saves through a team’s first 12 games.
He has been dominant in that time, too, allowing just four hits in eight innings while striking out 10.
“He’s throwing strikes when he needs to,” Callaway said. “With his stuff, if he’s able to do that, then he’s going to have success.”
