Trump team calls dibs on FBI raid info

- BY NICOLE HENSLEY

PRESIDENT Trump’s legal team on Sunday asked a federal judge to let him sift through the evidence the FBI seized from his personal attorney so he can point out the pieces he thinks should be off-limits to investigators.

Lawyer Joanna Hendon has asked Judge Kimba Wood to let the President go through the material the FBI took last week when it raided the New York City home, office and hotel room of attorney and fixer Michael Cohen so that Trump can identify and protect information he feels is privileged.

The standard procedure for prosecutors is to assemble a “taint team” to go through evidence, remove privileged information and hand the rest over to investigators.

In her eight-page letter, Hendon asks Wood to provide Trump with a list of the material in the government’s possession. Trump also wants the court to rule on material he says is privileged — but the taint team says is not — before it gets to the investigative team. Hendon writes Trump “is the holder of the privilege and, as such, has a unique interest in ensuring that every privileged item is fully protected from improper disclosure.”

Cohen is slated to appear in court Monday for arguments over the April 9 raid.

Also Sunday, a report said Cohen spiked an Us Weekly story about Donald Trump Jr.’s alleged 2011 affair with musician Aubrey O’Day.

The magazine was going to reveal Trump Jr.’s fling with the “Celebrity Apprentice” contestant in 2013, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Trump Jr.’s wife, Vanessa, filed for divorce last month.

Reps for O’Day did not respond to requests for comment.
