Tish high on pot reform
IT’S “HIGH TIME” to legalize marijuana in New York State, city Public Advocate Letitia James said Tuesday.
James, at a news conference outside Manhattan Supreme Court, called for a comprehensive approach that would expunge past arrests for possession and allow communities targeted for possession arrests to reap the rewards of legal weed. “The sad truth is that this war on drugs too often is a war on people of color, a war on poor Americans, a war on marginalized groups,” she said.
She ripped Mayor de Blasio for his stance against legalization, saying, “I don’t see how you can call yourself someone progressive” and “not come out or at least consider the prospect of legalizing marijuana.”
