Not ‘confused’ about Russia U-turn: Haley

- Denis Slattery and Chris Sommerfeldt

NIKKI HALEY fired back at the White House’s claim that she was stymied by “momentary confusion” when she announced sanctions against Russia on Sunday.

“With all due respect, I don’t get confused,” the United Nations ambassador said in a statement late Tuesday.

Chief White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said earlier in the day that Haley “got ahead of the curve” by announcing sanctions against Russia were coming the next day.

“There might have been some momentary confusion about that,” Kudlow told reporters in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Haley had said the U.S. would levy new sanctions to punish Moscow for its support of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government, but the White House walked the plan back after Trump had second thoughts, The Washington Post reported.

Kudlow called Haley and apologized later Tuesday, a White House official told The Associated Press.
