Top Blaz aide says farewell
ANDREA Hagelgans, Mayor de Blasio’s senior adviser for strategic planning, is leaving City Hall, officials said Wednesday.
Hagelgans, one of the highestranking women in the de Blasio administration, has worked for Hizzoner since near the beginning of his first term in 2014.
She’s heading for the exit to take a job as executive vice president for public affairs at PR firm Edelman.
“Andrea’s been at the center of all we’ve accomplished in the last four years. As one of my most trusted advisers, it was Andrea’s strategic vision guiding initiatives that have helped millions of New York City workers, parents and children,” de Blasio said. “She will be deeply missed at City Hall.”
Hagelgans, 39, was previously de Blasio’s communications director and was credited with pushing the city’s offer of paid parental leave to nonunion employees, as well as the expansion of prekindergarten to 3-year-olds.
She’s also a 10-time marathon runner — and clocked an impressive 3:45:49 in the New York City Marathon in 2015.
