Jailers need me – ex-union boss

- Shayna Jacobs and Victoria Bekiempis

FORMER JAIL union boss Norman Seabrook says city correction officers are suffering without him.

Seabrook was ousted as head of the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association in November, after his corruption case ended in a mistrial.

The 58-year-old is accused of taking a $60,000 bribe to shift $20 million in union pension money to Platinum Partners, a now-defunct hedge fund. He will be retried in July.

“Not only am I suffering, but the men and women of the Department of Correction are suffering,” Seabrook said after a short proceeding at Manhattan Federal Court on Thursday.

“I am still the president of the Corrections Officers’ Benevolent Association, and the only people who can remove me are the members according to the constitution and bylaws,” Seabrook continued.

The union declined to comment on Seabrook’s claims.
