Ex-con is busted in beat slay
A BROOKLYN judge has locked up an ex-con over accusations he beat a man to death inside the victim’s apartment.
Prosecutors say Leonard Barber, 35, used a stool and glass bottle to beat Mack Wilson in the head and back while two accomplices kicked, punched and stomped the man inside his single-room BedfordStuyvesant apartment on April 30. Wilson, 65, went to bed without seeking medical attention and was found unresponsive by his girlfriend in bed about 1 a.m. the next morning. He was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he died.
A city medical examiner determined Wilson died of multiple blunt impact of the torso.
Barber is charged with murder and was held without bail after his arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
He has 27 arrests on his record — including charges he robbed and attacked an undercover cop in 2002, police sources said. He served prison time for weapon possession in 2003.
Police say one of Wilson’s other attackers — who are at large — is a relative.
