NYPD safety guy busted in assault

A JEALOUS 29-year-old man newly enrolled in the NYPD’s School Safety Academy attacked his girlfriend after he saw another man’s picture on her Facebook page, officials said Saturday.

Kelvin Fernandez, 29, faces assault, harassment and obstruction of breathing charges after choking his girlfriend during the spat inside his Queens apartment.

Cops were called to the apartment about 10:50 p.m. Friday after his 23-year-old girlfriend claimed that Fernandez went ballistic after seeing the man’s picture on her Facebook feed, authorities said.

“He hit her and started choking her,” a source with knowledge of the case said.

Fernandez’s arraignment was pending Saturday afternoon.

He joined the NYPD School Safety Academy in March, sources said.
