WARREN TO DL

-

The Yankees placed reliever Adam Warren on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with a mild lat strain. They re-called righthander Jonathan Holder from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Warren allowed one run and two hits over 2.2 innings in Friday night’s 8-5 loss to the Blue Jays. He said Saturday that he first started feeling “discomfort” after his outing against the Orioles on April 8.

He pitched three times after that, including Friday’s extended appearance. It was during Friday’s game that Warren started to experience the discomfort while throwing offspeed pitches. He will be shut down for at least 10 days before resuming throwing.

“I started feeling it on a few pitches and just wanted to get it checked out to see if I could pitch through it or if it would get worse,” Warren said. “So we got it looked at, and I guess it’s good that we did because they said it could have gotten a lot worse.”
