Papa Bush, 93, in intensive care

FORMER President George H.W. Bush was in intensive care Monday night, where he was taken the day after his wife Barbara’s funeral, CNN reported.

The elder Bush, 93, was admitted to a Houston hospital on Sunday morning after an infection spread to his blood, spokesman Jim McGrath said a statement.

“He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering,” the statement said.

McGrath said the Bush family would issue additional statements as warranted.

The statement didn’t mention that Bush was in the hospital’s ICU.

Former First Lady Barbara Bush died Tuesday at 92. She had been battling congestive heart failure and other ailments and refused medical treatment in the days before her death.

She and the 41st President were married for 73 years.
