BRUSSELS — The ISIS follower and only surviving assailant in the Paris terror attacks was found guilty Monday of attempted murder stemming from a shootout with police.

Salah Abdeslam was convicted in the Belgian capital, where he hid out after the attacks at the Bataclan theater and other places in Paris on Nov. 13, 2015, that killed 130 people.

The 28-year-old was captured in March after a shootout in Brussels’ Forest neighborhood. He and accomplice Sofiyen Ayari were convicted of attempted murder.

Belgium’s tribunal found that the shooting, which was followed by another terrorist attack that killed 30 people at a metro station and airport for Brussels, was connected to terrorism.

Abdeslam (photo), who was not present in the courtroom Monday, has refused to cooperate with investigators or the court case.

He spoke briefly in February when he said Muslims are not given a presumption of innocence and that his silence was his defense.

Both Abdeslam and Ayari, who were also convicted of weapons possession, were sentenced to a maximum 20 years in prison.

Abdeslam, whose fellow Paris attack suspects either blew themselves up or were shot by police, is expected to face a trial in France next year.

His Belgian lawyer, Sven Mary, told Radio Télévision Belge Francophone that he would consult with his client about an appeal.
