HERE’S LOOKIN’ AT ‘LOU,’ KID!
BRITAIN’S NEWEST royal finally has a name.
Prince William and wife Kate Middleton announced Friday that they had named their son Louis Arthur Charles.
The choice behind the name of Prince Louis, born Monday in London to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, was immediately dissected by royal watchers in the United Kingdom.
Many focused on its French twist, given that France has been ruled by a Louis nearly 20 times. Prince Louis’ other names were seen as more traditionally British — Arthur is the name of the legendary king who ruled Camelot, while Charles is the name of the infant’s grandfather.
The newborn is fifth in line to the throne, behind Prince Charles, Prince William, and his siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
