In stark contrast to the Macron visit, a couple of days later German Chancellor Angela Merkel came to the White House for a loveless quickie so to speak.

Although Trump did shake hands with Merkel this time, he occasionally turned in the other direction when she was speaking and looked bored.

Then, because he can’t help himself, he said it was everyone else’s fault for the “lack of reciprocal relationship” between the two countries.

“I don’t blame the chancellor,” he said. “I don’t blame Germany, or the European Union. I blame the people that preceded me for allowing this to happen.”
