One dead after face-off with police upstate
A WOMAN was tasered and shot by police after she stabbed two officers in north suburban Mamaroneck Saturday, police said.
Cops responded to the home on Chestnut Ave. about 1:30 p.m. and found a toddler “in need of medical aid,” according to police.
The cops immediately called an ambulance, and then in a search of the home, found a 28-year-old woman who refused “numerous verbal commands by the officers to show her hands.”
According to authorities, the woman attacked police with a knife, injuring two officers.
Cops said they then used tasers to try to subdue the woman, but that they were ineffective. An officer subsequently shot the woman.
Authorities didn’t release how many shots were fired.
The woman and child were both taken to area hospitals for treatment.
According to the Journal News, the medical examiner’s office said there was one fatality, but would not release which person it was.
The injuries to police were not threatening. life
